Team Shadow to Represent Slovenia at ESA
We are proud to announce that Team Shadow has achieved an outstanding success in this year’s ESA Climate Detectives competition, where young researchers competed with innovative solutions to better understand and mitigate climate change.
Their research task focused on identifying and analyzing urban heat islands in Slovenian, European, and global cities, as well as on developing concrete proposals for solutions to mitigate their impacts. In their work, they applied modern approaches to data analysis and satellite imagery and developed proposed measures that contribute to more sustainable urban development.
The research gained additional value from the fact that, in designing their solutions, the team also relied on the findings of our innovative Solar Village project, within which we develop advanced approaches for efficient use of solar energy, reduction of surface overheating, and sustainable planning of living environments. The connection between the Solar Village project and the study of urban heat islands enabled a deeper understanding of the issue and the development of practically applicable solutions.
By winning at the national level, Team Shadow earned the honor of representing Slovenia at the international conference of the European Space Agency (ESA) in Rome, where they will present their work to experts and peers from across Europe.
